The Anne Pillow (AGF Pattern)

The Anne Pillow (AGF Pattern)

I think 2021 is going to be the year of pillow covers for me. I keep seeing all these great pillow projects when browsing social media, and decided I needed some patchwork pillows in my life. The last two years, table runners seemed to be my go to for quicker projects. Art Gallery Fabrics has so many great pillow projects, so I decided to start with one of those for my first pillow cover. I settled on the Anne Pillow, which was created featuring the Trouvaille collection. Since I love the Woodland Fusion collection and have enough fabric, I made two pillow covers with the collection in the Anne Pillow pattern.

I split the fabric in two piles, selecting four of the Woodland fabrics for each of the pillows. I wanted the pillows to coordinate together without matching. Plus, I didn't have enough of the fabrics to cut squares for two matching pillows. For the sashing and backing, I used a solid navy fabric.

The pattern makes a 20" square pillow, but, since I have an 18" pillow form, I omitted fabric E to make the pillow smaller. I also used fabric F as my backing instead of fabric E as per the pattern.

To add a little quilting to the front of the pillow covers, I cut a piece of flannel for each of the pillows. I placed the flannel on the backside of the patchwork front, and quilting down the middle of the sashing. This helped add the quilting and covered the seams of the patchwork.

The pattern for this pillow called for the back to have a split opening. I chose not to do the back according to the pattern. Instead, I did a piece of fabric the same size as the front of the pillow and added a zipper.

Love these pillows. I'm trying to decide what my next pillow covers will be.
